On July 12, we wrote about the tragic deaths of Lema and his wife, Betty, in an Illinois plane crash July 24, , following their departure from the PGA Championship at Firestone Country Club in Akron.

Akron resident Bill Fairweather remembers that weekend clearly.
His father, Dr. William H. Fairweather, a general surgeon at the Akron Clinic, was a colleague and good friend of Dr. Robert Hosier, a radiologist who provided lodging for the Lemas in his Northampton home whenever they were in town.
Fairweather said his parents often hosted pool parties at their Bath home and Hosier and his wife, Margaret, were often guests.
Tony and Betty Lema happened to attend the Saturday gathering that weekend along with PGA star Doug Sanders and other golfers.
